Rep. David Valadao, who represents the 22nd Congressional District, which includes portions of Kern County, again is expected to compete in a close reelection race. Since his election to Congress in 2012, the Hanford Republican has won reelection in some years by thin margins.

After serving two years in the state Assembly, Valadao was elected to Congress in 2012. With the exception of 2018, when he was defeated by Fresno Democrat T.J. Cox by a margin of 50.4% to 49.6%, voters have repeatedly returned Valadao to Congress. Valadao won his seat back in 2020, ironically defeating Cox by the same, but reversed margin.
